I just returned from the International Literacy Conference and am so excited to share what I learned and did with GREEN ROOM families! The experience kicked off with Shaquille O’Neal speaking about how he values education and that he went on to earn his Masters in Business and Doctorate in Education. As a visual learner, Shaq confirmed that what we do in the GREEN ROOM through ‘reading’ images is important (he confessed that he is very much a visual learner!)
My 3rd graders last spring read Clementine by Sara Pennypacker (and this year my 3rd graders will read it in the fall) SO how cool that I met Sara Pennypacker in person!
Of course I saw some great things in the city… will do a slide show of that later… but one of the coolest was a mural in my hotel: (Look closely! Can you figure out what is wrong with it?!)This was the view from my room:
Now I learned new things too! I may be a teacher, but I never stop learning myself! I can’t wait to bring in some outstanding primary sources and share some of the things I came home with: I would say I’m having a great summer vacation!
