“Flipped Learning” is where I set up access to content through videos. Students can watch lessons independently allowing me to use ‘face time’ to work with small groups or individuals. I either create or carefully select video lessons that deliver the teaching I would have traditionally done “in front of the class”. It is a much more effective use of my time and the children pay way more attention to content delivered on a screen…they are able to pause and rewind if they need to, or view again if they are unclear about something.
I have a YouTube channel of lessons I’ve built myself and I use Blendspace to build collections of multimedia resources. EduCanon allows me to take a video, insert reflective pauses and interactive elements (such as commenting or questions).
Using technology in this way, I am able to make the most out of the time I spend directly with students…helping them with their unique learning needs!
